Welcome to the first edition of the DA UK Intergroup newsletter! This quarterly roundup is designed to keep all members informed of what’s happening in service across the UK fellowship. Whether you’re new to DA or a long-time member, we hope this will support your recovery journey and connection to the wider DA community.
Service Updates & Transitions
New Chair & Vice-Chair Elected
Pete C has stepped into the role of Chair, and Alexandra has been elected as our new Vice-Chair. Big thanks to both for stepping up during a time when many positions remain open.
Open Service Roles
Several Intergroup roles are still vacant, including:
- Secretary
- Events Co-ordinator
- Website Manager
Service is a key part of our recovery. If you’re feeling the call, we welcome your energy and willingness—reach out via the website or your group IR.
Treasurer’s Report
7th Tradition Contributions (Jan–July 2025)
The UK Intergroup has received a total of £3,051.36 in 7th Tradition donations so far this year.
Spending Update
- Website and Zoom expenses
- Sending Intergroup Service Rep Major to World Service Conference
- Funds are set aside for the 2026 DA UK AGM, public information work, and a prudent reserve

️ Online Meetings & Zoom Accounts
Zoom Usage Update
Currently, 23 DA meetings use the Intergroup-funded Zoom accounts—about half of all UK meetings.. Thanks to Deborah for collating all the data and managing the online meetings.
Key Reminders:
- Meetings must re-register annually with DA USA to stay listed. Here’s the link:Register Your Meeting
- Reports of Zoom bombing have led to updated security measures
- A discussion is ongoing around the future of Intergroup-funded Zoom accounts—your group’s input is vital! Please discuss and bring feedback via your Intergroup Rep to the October 2025 meeting.
- IG funded meetings will expire at midnight on December 6th, if the decision is made to cease funding the Zoom Accounts.
Public Outreach & Literature
Helpline & Emails
Thank you to Julie P for fielding DA UK’s outreach! Since the last report:
- 23 email enquiries
- 5 voice messagesMost newcomers are struggling with personal debt and compulsive shopping, with some facing bankruptcy. Two are confirmed to have made it to meetings—an encouraging sign of our reach.
Literature
Literature distribution continues steadily with over £240 in orders since the last meeting. Our literature secretary Barney is preparing for sales at the DA London Event on October 4th. Enquiries are welcomed, including requests for accessible / large print materials.
World Service News
Geraldine H (ISR) will represent DA UK at the World Service Conference in San Francisco (Aug 6–10, 2025).
Key Motions Passed at Intergroup:
- Allowing future WSCs to be held virtually ✅
- Lowering vote threshold from ¾ to ⅔ ✅
- Renaming Ways and Means to Within Our Means ✅
- Literature on Unhoused Recovery and Debt ✅
- Proposal on Gender Identity and Debt ❌ (not passed)
These are not final decisions, just how Intergroup voted, which will inform how Geraldine votes at the conference.

Scammer Warning
There have been recent reports of scammers contacting DA members via WhatsApp, pretending to be DA representatives and asking for money.
Please remember: DA will never contact you to request donations by phone or message. Be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to your group or Intergroup.
Upcoming Events & Opportunities
UK to Host the World Service Conference?
A conversation has begun about the possibility of London hosting the WSC in 2028 or beyond. If you’re curious or willing to support this exciting project, please contact Robin S.
